The Diagnostic Department consists of a multidisciplinary team of professionals. We specialize in neuropsychological, psychoeducational, and psychodiagnostic evaluations. We have conducted private evaluations for children, adolescents, and adults and have extensive experience writing reports that are reviewed by public school districts, private schools, the CollegeBoard (publishers of the PSAT, SAT), Educational Testing Service (publishers of the GRE), colleges, and national/local licensing boards (e.g., California BAR exam review board, Board of Psychology, Medical Board of California).

We are currently seeking individuals who have been diagnosed with a learning disability who might be interested in a social support group.
We are currently seeking young adults who might be interested in a social support group designed for young adults who have been diagnosed with a autistic spectrum disorders (e.g., Asperger's, High Functioning Autism, Sensory Integration Disorder, or PDD, NOS). The group is designed to discuss a number of important adult like skills: dating and romance, navigating the social world, party survival skills, college success, communication skills, organization, time-management, and obtaining and maintaining employment.
Life coaching skill program to improve self-discipline, organization, and time management.
Sports Psychology - Dr. Herman has developed a specialty in working with athletes and has worked with some of the top athletes in the Los Angeles area.
SPECIAL SERVICES:
Life Transition Services - The Transition Services program typically involves a package of services to help adults transition from dependence to independence. This often includes a combination of parent counseling, family therapy, individual therapy, and our transition services.
The Parent Challenge - Individualized parenting classes to assist parents in understanding and dealing with their children, adolescents, and young adults as they negotiate their way, together, through an increasingly complex world.
Professional Consultations - We provide second opinions regarding school district evaluations and IEP accommodations and modifications.
Educational Therapy and tutoring services.
Assistive technology evaluation and sessions to try out specialized computer programs that may help circumvent specific learning disabilities such as dyslexia (reading problems) and dysgraphia (writing disorder).
Dr. Herman was privileged to be a member of a research team that published one of the few longitudinal research projects in the world tracking individuals with learning disabilities, attention disorders, Autistic Spectrum Disorders (e.g., High Functioning Autism, Asperger's Syndrome), and other disabilities impacting education from childhood into adulthood. This is a very well recognized line of research and it is available in his library of publications and papers through the research link on this page.
Through over twenty years of diagnostic experience, Dr. Herman has developed a specialty in the assessment and treatment planning for Autistic Spectrum Disorders such as High Functioning Autism and Asperger's Syndrome. Dr. Herman has presented papers on Asperger's Syndrome and High Functioning Autism at several colleges and university campuses and written several pages of anecdotal findings for the public domain that are available on this website by looking at the Research: Autistic Spectrum Disorders menu.

This is a special opportunity for young professionals who have completed either their Ph.D. or Psy.D. who are looking for advanced training and expertise in assessment and counseling. Post-doctorate professionals work closely with Dr. Jessica Hess, our Clinical Director, as a Psychological Assistant registered at the California Board of Psychology and progress through a structured training program leading to working with clients at Herman & Associates.
